This laboratory is mainly concerned with materials mechanics, working on the evaluation and modeling of structural behaviour, reliability assessment, and the analysis of the mechanical behaviour of the constitutive materials.
The department is also actively involved in GenMat (Technical Centre for Technology Transfer in Civil Engineering) in materials and structures for civil enginering which is set up within the CUST buildings, through the teaching and technology transfer activities of the LERMES laboratory.
Students may also prepare a post-graduate diploma (DEA) during their third year at the CUST or in many specialized schools or foreign universities. The Blaise Pascal University offers for instance a diploma in Mechanical and Civil Engineering on the following subjects : Materials and Structures, and Reliability Assessment.
